The Journal of Water and Wastewater was granted the status of a Scientific-Research Journal by the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology pursuant to Letter No. 3/2910/306 dated 8 June 2005 (18 Khordad 1384 in the Iranian calendar). The journal commenced publication in 1989 (1368 in the Iranian calendar) and was published for nine years, from 1996 (1375) onward, with the status of a Scientific-Popularization Journal. Since 2005 (1384), it has been continuously published with the status of a Scientific-Research Journal.
The Journal of Water and Wastewater is published bimonthly, featuring articles in both Persian and English. All articles published in the journal are made available electronically on the journal's website under an open-access policy, allowing researchers and other interested readers to access the published content.
The journal is published by the Water and Wastewater Research and Design Consulting Engineers Company.
Journal Information
Article Review and Publication Fees
Fees are charged for the peer-review and publication processes. The manuscript review fee is IRR 3,000,000. If a manuscript is accepted for publication, an additional fee of IRR 9,000,000 is charged for publication.
Open-Access Policy
The Journal of Water and Wastewater follows an open-access policy. All articles published in the journal are made available to the public under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Readers may access and use the articles in accordance with the terms and conditions of this license.
Similarity Screening and Manuscript Originality
To assess manuscript originality and identify textual similarities and potential plagiarism, submitted manuscripts are screened using specialized similarity-detection systems. One of the systems used by the journal for this purpose is Hamiyab.
The Journal of Water and Wastewater investigates and evaluates potential cases of plagiarism in accordance with the journal's established policies and criteria. If suspected plagiarism is identified by editors, reviewers, or editorial board members at any stage of the publication process—from initial submission to after publication—the matter will be investigated. If misconduct is confirmed, appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies, taking into account the nature and severity of the violation.
In cases involving limited textual similarity or minor plagiarism, the author(s) may be asked to revise the manuscript and provide accurate citations to the original sources. If extensive plagiarism is established, the manuscript may be rejected at any stage of the review or publication process.
If serious and extensive plagiarism is confirmed after publication, the journal will take appropriate corrective action and provide relevant notifications in accordance with its publication ethics policies.
Archiving and Long-Term Preservation Policy
The Journal of Water and Wastewater is committed to the long-term preservation and archiving of its published scholarly content and to maintaining sustained access to its published articles and scientific information.
The journal's archive includes published versions of articles and other scholarly content associated with the journal, which are made available electronically.
The substantive content of published articles will not be altered after publication. However, if errors are identified or corrections to information, references, or other aspects of an article are deemed necessary after its initial publication, appropriate correction or supplementary information will be added in accordance with the journal's procedures. This approach ensures that the publication record and any subsequent corrections are maintained transparently.
