Several factors are involved that include shape and size of filter grains, particle concentration, filtration velocity, and filter depth. The objective of this study was to evaluate particle removal efficiency (η)  by changing particle concentration and media grain size in a rapid sand filter. Five concentrations (100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 ppm) of Kaolin particles and three mean media sizes (0.51, 1, and 1.41 mm) were used. The filter depth and the filtration velocity were 25 cm and 0.086 cmsec-1, respectively. Silica sand was used as the filter medium in all the experiments. The results showed that for the filter medium with an average grain size of 0.51 mm, removal efficiency increased with increasing influent particle concentration during the initial hours of filtration. Generally, suspended solids removal efficiency was higher at low particle concentrations. No significant differences were observed in removal efficiency for the three media sizes and particle concentrations of up to 300 mg/L, but for concentrations above 300 mg/L, removal efficiency decreased, especially for filter media with an average grain size of 1.41 mm. Removal efficiency decreased in filter media with average grain sizes of 1 and 1.41 mm at high particle concentrations from the very initial hours of filtration. The highest removal efficiency was observed in the filter medium with an average grain size of 0.51 mm. Differences in removal efficiencies between the filter media with average grain sizes of 0.51 and 1 mm were much greater than those between filter media with average grain sizes of 1 and 1.41 mm. In other words, the critical grain size for the filter medium was 1 mm. }, keywords = {Kaolinite Particles,Rapid Sand Filter,Suspended Particles Concentration,Filter Media,Particle Removal Efficiency}, title_fa = {ارزیابی کارایی حذف ذرات معلق آب توسط صافی تند شنی با تغییر غلظت ذرات و اندازه دانههای محیط بستر صافی}, abstract_fa = {فرایند حذف ذرات معلق توسط صافی در تصفیه آب، فرایندی پیچیده است و به پارامترهای متعددی مانند اندازه و شکل دانههای محیط بستر صافی، غلظت ذرات معلق، سرعت صافی سازی و عمق بستر صافی بستگی دارد. هدف از این پژوهش بررسی اثر غلظت ذرات معلق و اندازه دانههای محیط بستر صافی بر کارایی حذف ذرات (η) بود. این تحقیق برای پنج غلظت کائولینیت به میزان 100، 200، 300، 400 و 500 پی‌پی‌ام و در سرعت صافی‌سازی 0/086 سانتی‌متر بر ثانیه انجام شد. همچنین سه محیط بستر صافی شنی با میانگین اندازة دانههای کوچک (0/51 میلی‌متر)، متوسط (1 میلی‌متر) و بزرگ (1/41 میلی‌متر) تهیه شد. عمق بستر صافی در تمام آزمایش‌ها 25 سانتی‌متر بود. نتایج نشان داد که در محیط بستر صافی با اندازه دانههای کوچک، با افزایش غلظت ورودی در ساعتهای اولیة صافی سازی، η افزایش می‌یابد. به طور کلی میتوان گفت که در غلظتهای پایین، کارایی حذف ذرات معلق مطلوب‌تر است. در هیچ یک از سه محیط بستر صافی استفاده شده، تا غلظت 300 میلیگرم بر لیتر ذرات کائولن، تفاوت چندان زیادی بین کارایی حذف مشاهده نشد. اما در غلظتهای بیشتر از این مقدار، کارایی حذف به ویژه در محیط با اندازه دانههای بزرگ کاهش یافت. در محیط‌های با اندازه دانههای متوسط و بزرگ، از همان ساعتهای اولیة آزمایش، در غلظتهای بالا، کارایی حذف کاهش یافت. بیشترین کارایی حذف در محیط با اندازه دانههای کوچک مشاهده شد. تفاوتهای کارایی بین محیط با اندازه دانههای کوچک و متوسط بسیار بیشتر از تفاوتهای کارایی بین محیط با اندازه دانههای متوسط و بزرگ بود. به عبارت دیگر اندازه بحرانی برای دانههای محیط بستر صافی، 1 میلی‌متر تعیین شد.}, keywords_fa = {ذرات کائولینیت,صافی تند شنی,غلظت ذرات معلق,محیط بستر صافی,کارایی حذف ذرات}, url = {https://www.wwjournal.ir/article_1724.html}, eprint = {https://www.wwjournal.ir/article_1724_b11936a15740059a623521e66e323ee8.pdf} }
